For a lot of people, money means freedom. In fact, it's their only concept of freedom they understand. Money means control. It means how much time I have to spend working, what I'm able to buy, what vacations I'm able to take. To some people, money means I am free to do whatever I want. But that's a fundamental misunderstanding of what freedom is. True freedom is freedom from the penalty of sin. And once you've been freed from that, you don't work for simply a paycheck anymore.

You work for the glory of God. Jesus didn't die on the cross so that we could accumulate more on this earth. He freed us from the bondage of the world. Proverbs even tells us those who pursue money decrease their life. So Christians have to remember the hope of our calling, which means we don't order our lives around money in the pursuit of it. But we order our lives from the true freedom God gives us.

You don't work merely for a paycheck. You work to the glory of God. God made you. He bought you back. And that changes everything with how we spend, how we save, and even how we work. In the next video, we're going to talk about how God is actually the one who gives us our wealth and what that means. So stay tuned.
