Matthew 5:9What Peacemaking Actually Is Matthew 5:9 Sermon on the Mount (beatitudes)

Published · 3 min video

Sin breaks peace. Every conflict every broken relationship every fractured friendship traces back to it. Matthew 5:9 — Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God. Most people think peacemakers avoid conflict. Jesus says the opposite. Peacemaking is not the absence of conflict. It's actively inserting the truth of Jesus into sinful situations. When it comes to conflict there are three kinds of people. Peacemakers who run toward conflict with something better than retaliation. Peacefakers who deny the problem and stay silent to avoid difficult conversations. And peacebreakers who take the focus off themselves and put it on everyone else. Both extremes of the world's response result in literal death. Jonah wanted to die. Judas took his own life. You cannot make peace with others if you are not first at peace with God.
