John 10Jesus’s final words - death on the cross Passion week (Easter 2026)
The most important day in human history. Jesus didn't die because Rome was powerful enough to kill him. He didn't die because the Pharisees were clever enough to trap him. He didn't die because Judas was cunning enough to betray him. John 10 says no one takes my life from me. I lay it down on my own. I have the right to lay it down and I have the right to take it up again. Rome thought they were in control. The Pharisees thought they were in control. Judas thought he was in control. Every single one of them was an instrument in the hands of the one hanging on the cross. And at the moment of his death Jesus cried out — it is finished. The Greek word tetelestai means brought to its full and complete conclusion. Nothing left undone. Nothing left to add. Nothing left to earn. Received by grace through faith. 2 Timothy 1 says Jesus Christ abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. You are not fighting a war. The war has already been won. Come back Sunday for the resurrection. Day 5 of a daily Passion Week series. Follow so you don't miss it.
