There's a Christian term called justification. But what does that really mean? Well, justification is simply legal terminology that means to be found acceptable and right before God. But how can any person be found right before a holy God? The Bible teaches us that every single person willingly chooses to sin. And all that means the word sin is to go against God's plan. It really is treason in its highest form. And every person because of such great offense we've done before a holy God deserves to die.

So if every person has disobeyed God and every person deserves to die, then how can anyone ever hope to be found right with God and be back at unity with him? And Paul answers that for us in Galatians. Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ. So we also have believed in Christ Jesus in order to be justified by faith in Christ.

So what this is getting at is that God made a way for us for anyone who believes to be forgiven. But God is a perfectly just judge. Meaning the penalty had to be paid for. The way that anyone can be found right before God is through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus. God loved us so much that he sent his son to die for our sins so that anyone who would confess which simply means to agree with God, I have disobeyed you that I deserve punishment. And then you believe in your heart that God sent his son to die in our place. Your sins are taken away from you and they're covered by the blood of Jesus. You have forgiveness and are made back in unity with God.

And there's no other way to do it. My favorite worldly example I like to use is when a cake is cooked after everything's been mixed together, I say, "Get that egg out of that cake." Well, we can't do it. It's impossible. And that's how final sin is before our standing with God. There's nothing we can do to take the sin out of ourselves and pay for that debt.

So God did the impossible and made the necessary sacrifice. Anyone who would believe would be right with him and no longer called an enemy of God, but instead called a child of God.
