Mark 11Jesus Curses a Fig Tree - Day 2 of Passion Week (Easter 2026)
On the second day of Passion Week Jesus walked up to a fig tree saw leaves and went looking for fruit. There was nothing. And he cursed it and it withered and died. But here's what most people miss — a fig tree produces fruit before it produces leaves. The leaves are an announcement. Come and find what you're looking for here. But when Jesus came looking for what those leaves promised there was nothing. The tree wasn't just fruitless. It was deceptive. Earlier in his ministry Jesus told a parable in Luke 13 about a barren fig tree given one more year to bear fruit. That one more year was three years of his ministry. Three years of miracles. Three years of truth. Three years of warning. The cursing of the fig tree is the verdict after the warning went unheeded. The disciples asked how did he do this. They asked the wrong question. The better question is why. Today is the day of salvation. Don't miss it. Day 2 of a daily Passion Week series. New video every day through Easter Sunday. Follow so you don't miss it.
