What "Sin" ACTUALLY Means (Defining Church Words)

Sin. Most people think sin simply means doing something bad. The Bible's most common word for it is missing the mark. But in the original Hebrew, sin has so many layers that show it means so much more. Layer one, sin is doing something wrong out of ignorance, not knowing better. Two, intentional rebellion against God, something that the wicked do. Three, breaking a covenant where you've promised to do something and you don't do it.

Four, breaking faith with God, like Moses striking the rock in his own power instead of doing what God said to do. He almost did what God said, but he did it in his own power. So sin isn't just checking off a list of do's and don'ts. Sin is literally doing anything outside of God's will. That's why we're told to love God with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength, because sin is every single moment we choose our way over his. Drop in the comments below, what Christianese word should we tackle next?
